BLUE & WHITE GAME SCHEDULED FOR 22 APRIL AT 1400HRS

NEXT AIG MEETING SCHEDULED 22 APRIL AT 1100HRS IN THE CADET LOUNGE, 3RD FLOOR WAGNER BLDG.

Greetings PSU Army ROTC Alumni!

Cory Kline – President

Some of you have heard from me before, some have no idea who I am.  My name is Cory Kline (Class of ’97) and I’m the current Penn State Army ROTC Alumni Interest Group President.  Your e-mail address has been collected from the Army ROTC website you registered with or from the PennState Alumni Association.  We’re trying to build a data base of AIG members.  Some of you may or may not have registered with the Army ROTC website but we’d like to include you in the AIG as well.  If you’d rather not be a part of the AIG, simply e-mail one of us back and we’ll take your name off the distribution list.

Good news.  We’ve got over 50 members in the AIG so we can now go active once again.  This will help out because as an active AIG we’ll receive some funding from the Alumni Association. Thanks to all of you who were “actively recruiting” to get members on the books.

The PSU Army ROTC website has undergone some changes and there is no longer a link to the AIG page.  This is being corrected.  Brendan is working to develop a new page for us. I’m going to have Brendan outline his plan.

Brendan Bagley – VP

Hello all – (Class of ‘92)  The plan I hope is relatively simple and short, yet not the requisite 5 paragraphs.  Simply put, the intent is to:

-                          Allow future members to provide us their information (that which exists is not yet properly linked)

-                          Allow recently commissioned grads to ‘get in touch with’ AIG members at their 1st (or next) assignment

-                          Allow current AIG members to update their information,

-                          Allow current AIG members to reach out to those AIG members nearby to (dare I say) network ......   I have a better term – tailgate.

Within this intent it is our desire to keep email addresses/contact information confidential to the website (i.e. the viewer sending this blast does not see email addresses).  Based on our current staff/people/volunteers it has yet to be determined how quickly these ideas will come to fruition.  We may require the need for a SME (who has the time to work on this).  However, first and foremost, as Cory mentioned, we must reestablish the link to the AIG page from the PSU ROTC page.  I trust that I have provided some insight into the ‘web plan’.

Ken Herko – Secretary

As current secretary of the group (Class of ’91 & ’97), my goal for the AIG will be to maintain e-mail lists, keep current the status of those members who have provided us information, to maintain a cross list with the Alumni Association and to support both the President and the Vice President of the AIG.

The long term goal for this AIG is no different than any of the other groups on campus, to maintain a link back to Penn State as well as to link forward for the further common bond of those that have served before us and those that are graduating to serve in the future.  It is a completely voluntary endeavor and in no way is meant to be intrusive or hostile but to provide a common link for all those who wish to join the AIG.

Thank you for you attention and patience as we resurrect the AIG and re-establish the link to Penn State.

Last note from Pres Cory:

April 22 is the Blue and White game at PSU with the kick off scheduled for 1400hrs (2pm).  Our next AIG meeting will be held in the Cadet Lounge on the same day.  We’ll start off with a meet and greet at 1030hrs.  The formal meeting will be from 1100hrs to 1200 hrs.  We’re going to try (don’t hold me to it) to have a tailgate of our own in the parking lot behind the Wagner building.  More details to follow in the next few weeks.
