Welcome to the on-line home of the Florida
Gulf Coast Chapter of the Penn State Alumni
Association. Chapter membership includes
Penn Staters from the Bradenton area south
through
Sarasota, Venice, and Englewood.
Our chapter’s founding was spearheaded in
1982 by Hap Hile (‘21) and Bob Blasingame
(’39). Their early efforts were successful, and
today there are well over 200 members and
increasing numbers of Penn Staters who are
residing in our area. That means new
membership growth, and we want to make it
convenient for you to join us in the fun.

We intend to make this site an invaluable
resource to local Penn Staters. We’ve
included a number of links to other "cool" Web
Sites. We’ll be posting planned activities and
discussing related topics.

Lots of things are happening and there are
plenty of opportunities for Penn Staters to get
involved. From October through May, there are
luncheon meetings with wonderful speakers.
Everybody enjoys December’s Holiday party
at the Sarasota Yacht Club and, of course, the
March annual banquet at the Venice Yacht
Club is another highlight event.
. . . and we never miss a TV football party for
all games. Many of the faithful gather at the
Sarasota Brewing Company
on game days in the autumn. Even when
games are not televised nationally, we can
receive them via satellite.
